Dome shines light on women in tech
Women working in the "male-dominated" tech industry showcased their skills in Devon's 50ft (15m) "Immersive Dome".
สล็อตแจกทุนให้เล่นฟรี2021 It is developed every day because the camp wants the players to use the best system, seeing that nowadays there are many new online slot games that are always available to customers.
The pioneering project in Devonport Market Hall, the first of its kind in Europe, works by "wrapping its audience" in a film and soundscape.
At this week's Immerse Fulldome UK Festival, the public have been invited to experience the technology.
On a day dedicated to women in emerging technology, it became a platform to share ideas, experience and support.
The networking event brought together women from across the world working in areas including augmented reality, virtual reality and 360 films.
Tech entrepreneur Lynden Campbell, who runs Hothouse Music, a sound studio in London, said: "I think women are great innovators, they are productive and they get things done and it's completely beyond me why women aren't involved in these conversations and given an environment where they feel safe to talk about the things they want to achieve."
Ms Campbell, who has worked with artists including Ed Sheeran, said she hoped to relocate to Plymouth for better access to the dome, adding: "There's nothing like this in Europe and it's really important that people recognise and feel proud of that."

Adding a sustainable, personalised touch to their father’s woodworking legacy
Adding a sustainable, personalised touch to their father’s woodworking legacy
Reviving a dying trade is no mean feat but for one family, it’s a labour of love. The Yeo brothers are not only keeping their father’s dream alive, they’re taking the family business to greater heights.

In 1999, Mr Roger Yeo founded JR&P Industries, which manufactured system furniture for offices. In 2014, he passed away from pancreatic cancer.
“We saw first-hand how much the business meant to him, and there was no question we would take over the company,” recalled Morgan, the eldest of three sons. “Crafting furniture is hard work, and it took us a while to warm up to it and eventually fall in love with the craft. As kids, we were constantly exposed to our father’s work and we picked up woodworking skills from him along the way.”
FROM MANUFACTURING BY THE NUMBERS TO BESPOKE LUXURY
The brothers renamed the company Roger&Sons, as a tribute to their father. They also took the company in a new direction, focusing on creating fine furniture and thoughtful objects, a shift that was more attuned to customers’ evolving needs.
Today, 34-year-old Morgan is in charge of business development and sales while 27-year-old Ryan takes care of production and the company’s day-to-day operations.
TRUST, PASSION AND IMAGINATION
Running a family business has not been without its fair share of challenges. Like most families, the brothers have “friendly disagreements” and don’t always see eye to eye.
“But we trust one another deeply and this trust keeps us moving forward together,” said Morgan. “Whether it may be the right or wrong decision, we know that we each have the best interests for the family at heart.”
While passion plays a vital role in the continuation of the family business, there are times when setbacks may douse the flame.

No evidence of bullying in fracking vote, Commons speaker says
No evidence of bullying in fracking vote, Commons speaker says
An internal investigation has found no evidence of bullying during a vote on fracking last month, the House of Commons speaker has said.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle said the atmosphere was "tense" but there was no evidence of "undue influence" on MPs.
He added that the report about the incident would be published shortly.
The chaos surrounding the vote contributed to the swift downfall of Liz Truss, who resigned as prime minister the next day.
Some MPs had claimed Conservative colleagues were manhandled into backing the government but ministers denied physical force had been used.
Labour's Chris Bryant said he witnessed "clear bullying" in the division lobby of the House of Commons during the vote on 19 October and that one Tory MP, Alexander Stafford, was "physically manhandled".
But Mr Stafford rejected the claims, saying he had a "frank and robust conversation" with members of the government outside the voting lobbies but "nothing more".
Speaking after Mr Hoyle's statement, Mr Bryant told BBC Radio 4's World at One programme: "I am not challenging the ruling of the speaker but I know what I saw and I am not withdrawing a single word.
"It may be that some people feel that they weren't bullied but I saw intimidatory behaviour."
Sir Lindsay told MPs: "The atmosphere was tense and members were raising their voices to make themselves heard, but there is no evidence of any bullying or undue influence placed on other members.

Somalia Mogadishu bombings: Twin blasts kill 100 in capital
Twin car bomb explosions near a busy junction in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, killed at least 100 people, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud says.
สล็อต วอเลท No turnover required. If you get a profit, you can withdraw it. Therefore, making the prize money happen in a short period of time has seen the results achieved as already thought.
Among the victims "who were massacred [were] mothers with their children in their arms", the AFP news agency quotes the president as saying.
He appealed for international medical help to deal with the 300 injured.
The president blamed the al-Shabab militant group for Saturday's attack which targeted the education ministry.
The pro-jihadist Somali Memo website has reported that the group has said it was behind the blasts.
An affiliate of al-Qaeda, al-Shabab has engaged in a long-running conflict with the federal Somali government.
President Mohamud, in power for five months pledged "total war" against the Islamist militants after they attacked a popular hotel in Mogadishu in August killing at least 21 people.
Saturday's blasts happened within minutes of each other, destroying buildings and vehicles in the vicinity.
The first hit the education ministry and then the second went off as medical teams arrived to deal with the aftermath, the Reuters news agency reports.
A lorry exploded at the same junction almost exactly five years ago, leaving more than 500 people dead - the worst such attack in the country's history.

Lord Brailsford appointed new chair
Lord Brailsford appointed new chair
A new judge has been appointed to lead the Scottish Covid-19 inquiry.
สล็อต ทดลองเล่นฟรี When you play badly, the more you think about it, the more you want to get the top you lose, the more it loses your concentration and it will make you lose even more.
Lady Poole quit the role earlier this month for personal reasons and now the Scottish government has announced Lord Brailsford will take over from Friday.
The inquiry has also seen the resignation of four members of its legal team.
Deputy first minister John Swinney said Lord Brailsford had the necessary "skills, integrity and experience" to continue the work of the Covid inquiry.
Mr Swinney told Holyrood he was confident the swift replacement of Lady Poole meant the inquiry would not be delayed.
The Scottish Covid-19 inquiry will look at the Scottish government's actions throughout the pandemic, from introducing lockdown to the delivery of testing and vaccines.
It will also focus on infection control in care homes, including the transfer of patients from hospitals.
Mr Swinney also announced the inquiry will change its terms of reference to include "a clear reference" to the probe taking a human rights-based approach.
He said: "The Scottish government wants the inquiry to be delivered at speed and to address the range of questions that people have - the bereaved, in particular - so that we can learn lessons and benefit from them as early as possible.
"That is why arrangements for identifying a new judicial chair for the inquiry have been taken forward urgently to ensure a swift and successful transition."
Families who lost loved ones to Covid have previously told Mr Swinney they felt "betrayed" by the handling of the inquiry amid fears of delays.

Standard Chartered beats estimates with 40% profit jump, raises income outlook
Standard Chartered beats estimates with 40% profit jump, raises income outlook
Standard Chartered reported a 40 per cent increase in quarterly profit as higher interest rates boosted the emerging markets-focused bank's income and gave it ammunition to upgrade its revenue outlook.
SLOTXO, sport911 a major online casino and also a provider of online slot games, has shifted players' investments from before the minimum requirement.
The bank expects income to grow 13 per cent this year instead of a previously forecast 10 per cent.
"We remain confident in the delivery of our 2024 financial targets," CEO Bill Winters said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 26).
The profit growth and improved guidance from the London-headquartered bank showed how rising interest rates are lifting banks' profits, even as the global economy struggles amid volatile energy costs and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The lender, which earns most of its revenue in Asia, said statutory pre-tax profit rose to US$1.39 billion in the three months to Sep 30 from US$996 million a year earlier and versus the US$1.05 billion average estimate of 14 analysts, as compiled by the bank.
StanChart, present in 59 markets with 85,000 staff, mainly relies on capturing trade flows between its key markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East but it lacks the heft of larger rivals in commercial banking and investment banking.

Japan finance minister declines to say whether government intervened to prop up yen
Japanese currency authorities declined on Monday (Oct 24) to confirm whether the government had intervened in the currency market on Friday, signalling their determination to engage in a war of nerves with traders selling the yen.
xoslot ทางเข้าเล่น It has been number one with an ever-increasing number of customers.
Any respite from such an intervention appeared to be brief, however, with dollar/yen rising 1.3 per cent to 149.54 in early trade on Monday before easing slightly on fears of more interventions.
Sources told Reuters that the dollar's plunge by as much as by ¥7 overnight on Friday was caused by authorities' yen-buying action for the second time in as many months. On Sep 22 they stepped in to prop up the yen for the first time since 1998.
Japan announced that intervention but has since remained mum on whether it were taking any further action in the currency market.
"I won't comment," Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki told reporters at the finance ministry, when asked about intervention.
"We absolutely cannot tolerate excessive moves in the foreign exchange market based on speculation," Suzuki told reporters at the finance ministry.
Masato Kanda, vice finance minister for international affairs, also declined to comment on intervention.

Judi Dench says Netflix's The Crown uses 'crude sensationalism'
British actress Judi Dench has called on Netflix to add a disclaimer to royal drama The Crown, joining a chorus of voices criticising the series' fictionalised storylines.
ทดลองเล่นสล็อต Betting on the sign up slot game can be one of the few ways to turn hundreds into thousands.
In a letter to The Times on Thursday (Oct 20), the 87-year-old veteran said as the award-winning show approached present times "the more freely it seems willing to blur the lines between historical accuracy and crude sensationalism".
"While many will recognise The Crown for the brilliant but fictionalised account of events that it is, I fear that a significant number of viewers, particularly overseas, may take its version of history as being wholly true," Dench wrote.
Dench has portrayed historical queens Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria on screen as well as James Bond's boss "M".
Netflix says The Crown, which follows the reign of late Queen Elizabeth over the decades, is "fictional dramatisation", inspired by real events.
Its fifth season, in which a new cast will portray the royal family in the 1990s, premieres on Nov 9, two months after King Charles ascended the throne.
"No one is a greater believer in artistic freedom than I, but this cannot go unchallenged... the programme makers have resisted all calls for them to carry a disclaimer at the start of each episode," Dench wrote.

Bethesda hydro scheme cuts electricity bills by 25%
Bethesda hydro scheme cuts electricity bills by 25%
Energy bills are a worry right now, but people in one village are slashing their bills by using green technology.

Some residents in the Ogwen Valley, in Gwynedd, joined an energy club which uses a hydro-electric scheme.
As a result, they get electricity for 8p a unit at certain times of day - instead of 34p a unit.
A separate scheme sells excess power back to the grid, funding grants for local charities and fitting solar panels in the area.
The Ogwen Valley is one of several places in Wales with community energy projects.
As bills rise, residents said they appreciated it more than ever.
How do community energy projects work?
About 140 homes in the area are part of a club called Energy Local along with the National Trust, which owns a hydro-electric turbine nearby.
The homes are not plugged directly into the turbine - they get their power from the National Grid, the same as everyone else.
But the energy club members' use is matched to the amount of power the turbine is generating.
As long as residents don't use more power than the turbine produces, their bills stay low.
They are charged just under 8p per kW/h in the night, and 16.5p per kW/h between the hours of 16:00 to 20:00.
Under the UK government's price cap scheme, suppliers can charge up to 34p per kWh.
The costs are kept low because the power is used locally and does not travel for miles across the National Grid.
